Weekly Lab Meetings

Description/Schedule

Before 1:30pm: Casual conversation. This is a good time to meet new people or catch up with others.

1:30pm: Informal seminar. 10-minute mini-presentation of an idea or ongoing research project for everyone to comment on, followed by about 10 minutes of discussion.

2:00pm: Progress report. Each group member describes in roughly a minute what they've been working on the past week so that everyone understands it. If they've been to a symposium or seminar, they give a quick report. Immediate problems they have are discussed, but not more than 2-3 minutes. (Anything more than that is moved to one-on-one meetings.) Each of these mini-presentations could have a single display, likely projected onto the screen. The group has an opportunity for a mini-discussion and brainstorming after each mini-presentation.

2:30pm: End of formal part of the meeting. People can continue a group discussion, leave, or break into smaller groups.

Snacks will be provided.
